French for "coarse texture" (pronounced GrO-grAn). A ribbon with a ribbed appearance that is often woven into stripes, dyed a solid color, or silkscreened on. One of the most versatile ribbons-- used in sewing, home decor and gift packaging. |

Woven Ribbon

Refers to ribbon that doesn't really fit anywhere else. It tends to be duller than grosgrain, but is usually reversible, as the design is woven in, as opposed to printed on. Has pretty good body and will have some texture. |

Named for Joseph-Marie Jacquard, a frenchman who invented the Jacquard loom. Has a detailed design woven into the ribbon with a definite right side. This category has the tapestry-like designs. |
