Fabric Button Knobs
Just when I thought there were no more uses for you cover buttons, voila!
For this project you will need:
  • You Cover Buttons I used Size 75 (1 7/8") flat-backs for the side drawers. The Size 60 flat-backs I used on the top drawer are too small to be very secure on the knob.
  • Awesome Fabric -only Jessica Jones fabrics work for this project :)
  • Glue gun
  • Concave or flat knobs smaller than the buttons
  • Wooden or rubber mallet (only necessary if the fabric is a canvas or other heavy-weight fabric. Otherwise you can push them together with your hands.)
Step 1 Trace around the template on the back of the you cover button kit and cut out your fabric.
Step 2 Place the fabric and button top in the holder, as instructed on the button package.
Step 3 Place the back of the button on the top and using a wooden mallet, hammer the pusher to snap the back into place. (I wasn't able to push the back on with my hands using the heavier material.)
Step 4 This is the knob I found at my local Lowe's. I liked the size and the fact that the top was concave-- gives me lots of surface area for glue. A rounded knob won't work as the button rocks around on the top and will fall off.
Step 5 I applied a massive amount of hot glue to the back of the button and then pressed the knob onto the button. Let cool.
Step 6 Install the knobs on your drawers and admire your fine effort.
