Materials Needed:
| Step 1:
Measure the waistband on the pants you will be wearing the belt with and add 8 inches for the belt. Select a ribbon and matching cotton webbing. Since you are stitching the ribbon to the webbing, you can use a ribbon with no body for this belt (such as a polyester ribbon). Cut the webbing and ribbon to the length you calculated. |
| Step 2:
Center the ribbon on the webbing and stitch down both sides. If if makes you more comfortable, iron Heat 'n Bond to the ribobn first and then iron it to the webbing. Then the ribbon will not move when you sew it. If you are using a very thin ribbon, use the Lite version of Heat 'n Bond to prevent the webbing from showing through the ribbon. |
| Step 3:
To keep the webbing from raveling, zig-zag both ends with your machine and/or apply Fray Check. |
| Step 4:
Attach the military buckle to one end and the end tip to the other. To attach the end tip, use a pair of pliers covered with fabric (to prevent scratching) and squeeze the end tip to the webbing. Cover the end tip with fabric and hammer it flat. |
