• 1 1/4" BanRol- waist size plus 8 inches
• 5/8" and 7/8" Heat 'n Bond Ultrahold
• 7/8" coordinating ribbon for inside- waist size plus 8 inches and for ends of belt- 5 1/4"
• 1 Interchangeable belt buckle

Iron two strips of 5/8" Heat 'n Bond to Banrol, overlapping in center if necessary to prevent it from sticking out over the BanRol edges. After it cools, peel off the paper backing.

Take a piece of ribbon at least 3" long and lay it at approximately a 30 degree angle to the BanRol and press. (You don't have to be exact- just somewhere between vertical and horizontal that looks appealing.) Be careful not to get the iron on the exposed Heat 'n Bond. Don't worry about trimming the ribbon ends- we'll clean those up later.

Place a ribbon as close as possible to the first ribbon and press. Continue until you have covered the entire length of BanRol. (Did I mention that it is a little tedious?)

Press the entire belt to ensure that the ribbons are secure.

To trim the ends, place the belt, ribbon side down, on a cutting mat. Using a clear ruler and a rotary cutter, cut one side to within 5/8" of the BanRol. Repeat for the other side.

With the ribbon side down, iron two strips of 5/8" Heat 'n Bond to the BanRol, just like you did in Step 1.

Okay, this step is as tedious as placing the ribbon. Turn down each ribbon and press to the BanRol. Again, be careful of getting your iron on the exposed Heat 'n Bond.

Press 7/8" Heat 'n Bond to back of 7/8" ribbon. Remove paper and press ribbon to back of belt, centering ribbon between the edges.

Trim ends to BanRol.

Cut two pieces of 7/8" grosgrain to 2 5/8". Press Heat 'n Bond to the back of each. Remove the paper backing.

To finish the belt end, place the belt end, right side down, on the 7/8" grosgrain, right side down. Position the grosgrain so it overhangs the belt end by approximately 1/4".

Fold both ends of ribbon on to the belt, overlapping the ribbon ends in the middle and press with iron.

Repeat Steps 11 and 12 on other end of belt. Turn belt over and press both ends from the right side, to ensure ribbon is secure.

Stitch ends 1/8" from ends and the edges of belt 1/4" from the edge to catch ribbon piece in back.

Attach to interchangable belt buckle by passing the belt under the two rods (wrong side up) and wrapping around inner rod and down under outer rod. Repeat for other buckle.

• The same concept would work with a strip of leftover fabric, at least 3" wide and cut to the length of the BanRol. Instead of piecing the ribbons, you would just press the one piece of fabric on the front side, then turn down the edges to the back. Cover the raw edges with a piece of ribbon and finish the ends and you're done.
